Hi All, as I appear to be committed to keeping the 1100, I'm looking at areas to improve. The headlight is an obvious candidate, and I am looking at options. I don't think the Unit Garage screen will be suitable for long distance touring . I have seen a twin headlight conversion but cant find anyone selling one ( ideally second hand) ? Has anyone taken the unit off an 1150 and put on a 1100? How doable is this ? Any other options people have considered?

Wouldn't a Migsel, Skunk Garage or Rugged Roads lightbar plus some good quality lights do the job easier and better? I use Denali D3s with hybrid lenses and their dimmer control thingy.

Do not bother with a 1150gs unless for looks the 1150 headlights are if anything worse.
There is a company Poland that does upgrades

If you search on You Tube there is a review on their converted r1100gs unit

Absolutely... The 1150 shite headlight was a deffo downgrade from the Commercial bus headlight stylee... Probably best to fit aux lights for the modern Starship Enterprise look... Also denotes and ADV warrior in the making... (Watch the potholes)...😂

It was the commercial bus look I was trying to get rid of! :)
I have Aux lights already, im just trying to make it look better ... pigs and lipstick come to mind ...

Hi Steve, I'm no expert but I've done a fair amount of looking for a twin headlamp for mine and to no avail.
I'm not concerned so much about the amount of light - decent bulbs and it's not too bad, I'm more concerned about blowing a bulb at night and being left stranded in the dark... (It happened to me on my HID-equpped XT660 when the ballast failed).
In the absence of a twin headlight conversion, I'm going to put some additional lights on mine. I have a light bar, and some BIG lights... just need to get round to fitting them.
FYI: I have seen a couple of twin headlight units come up for sale (and there is a company still making them) but they've all been 'left hand drive' i.e. dip the wrong way... Buyer beware and all that...

It's the classic post airhead look and the one that made the difference GS wise... That bus headlight is iconic...👌😉

I fitted a pair of modified CBR400 headlights to my 1100.... it was over 20 years ago now and I can't remember what is needed.

I think I had a Touratech set originally that melted so used the mounting plate to fit the Honda ones on to it.
