Front Master Cylinder

How diffcult is it to over haul the master cylinder on my 1100 . Might have a leak ? Did the pads about a month ago .Followed the manual and removed a little fluid to make pistons easier to move . No other problems . Just a few spots on inside of handguard . Any ideas . Many Thanks

Had this on r1100RS, and fitted new seal - buy from motobins. However, it did not 100% fix the prob, I beleive there is an issue with pitting on the cyl due to some material prob.
Try the new seal and hone / polish the cylinder - you need a torch and maybe a magnifying glass to look at the condition.
BTW, this gets blamed on stroking the piston well past it's normal working limit when bleeding the system.

The bore wears in the master cylinder, as well as the seal on the piston .

Done mine a few weeks ago.
Everything okay for about a week but, after the bike wasn't used for a few days, it began leaking again.

I sorted it by leaving the lever clamped back to the bar overnight. Theory being that the seals, although
obviously shaped, needed a bit of "training" to form in the cylinder properly while under pressure.

Try it, it might work.
In fact, I wonder if it would have been worth trying that after the winter lay up when the original leak happened to mine.

Does anyone know why these seals are not available seperately?
