Im about to get my GS1300 & will be used throughout the year in fairly shitty conditions.
I’d like to minimise the “damage’ that occurres from road debris.
1. What are people using at the front of the bike, extended front mudguard, if so which type & what else are you using that is actually practical & useful vs ‘glam’?
2. Rear wheel, I’ve heard some say that adding a rear hugger only increases the vortex. Again what has actually been beneficial, something just to cover the suspension unit vs the wheel?
Thank you in advance for ideas & thoughts, plus real life experience.

I've got the MachineArt front extender on a GSA. Definitely keeps the front of the engine cleaner than without. That said, the engine paint seems a lot more robust on the 1300s so perhaps it's not strictly as necessary as it was on the 12x0.

Can't speak for the rear as GS and GSA are different.

My 1300GSA motor is so much easier to clean than the 1250. It also doesn't seem to bake the crud as much. So, I have found I don't need one, but did on the 1250GS. Instead I occasionally use a spray on, wipe off ceramic coat (whatever Halfords have at the time) on that front cover and it has proven easy to keep clean. I also use it on the headlight and front screens. Seems to make it easier to wipe the bugs off.

Look at Pyramid Plastics they do an excellent range of 1300 items, I have the front extender it’s very good, also the Issota Riders seat for the trophy also a super product

This is my set up.
Machineart front extension and pyramid rear hugger. Works pretty well.20260322_090055.jpg

Machine art front fender extender, and machine art mudsling on the rear.
Very happy with both items, although they are expensive.

Fit well, do the job they are meant to…..recommended by me ( but that’s not really a great recommendation !)
Also use something like xcf50 or similar on engine cases following a wash. So far my bike still comes up like new after a wash and polish , and it’s a 2024 model, not just used on sunny days!
