Front mudguard extension

Having done a few ride outs on my G650X, it needs a front mudguard extension for sure.

Now I dont fancy paying ~£76 for the ridiculously priced touratwat one.

Are there any sensible priced alternatives any of you lot know about?

You can probably pick up a generic acerbis front fender for about £15 from somewhere like racespec. It might take a little head scratching to make it fit (have a feeling it attaches under the yoke instead of in front of it), but shouldn't be to difficult.

Here is some info..........quite a few people have done the mod of replacing the mudguard with Acerbis or UFO and also a couple of differrent KTM guards but you do get an unsightly gap between the guard and the headlight because it mounts underneath like nathan said.

Its funny, 'cos earlier tonight I was holding up a little bag to hold an innner tube/zip ties etc. to the front mudguard, and with the stock front fender there isn't enough space and the bag fouls the headlight. So this replacement fender method creates the perfect gap, and this is a good way of filling the gap... Coolio.

Looked on his site at the G650X section, Mudguard extensions section and the bodywork section and nothing listed at all.

are the technik fenders easy to fit? and do they need the blanking plate as seen on the advrider thread?

Ive fitted the acerbis one, looks good and managed to source a bracket from Touratech, then fixed the lamp in position with some rubber straps. Ideally need to fabricate a bracket as seen on Advrider

Ah right fabricating brackets wouldn't be my strong point does anyone know if the advrider sells them or know of anyone else that makes them please?

Just seen on XC Farkles on ADVrider a guy who has replaced the OE mudguard with a Acerbis/KTM mudguard and fitted a tooltube horizontally in the space, looks good and are the type you can get either on here in vendors or from www.adventure-spec.com for around £16
