front of engine idler wheel installation?.

Evening, well it came to the point were I had to remove the front engine cover as it was badly corroded. However I forgot to remove the bolt holding the cover to the bottom gear wheel. And pulled of its shaft which seems to be stopped from spinning on its self by some sort of woodruff key. I slipped it back on but I think I may have turned the bottom shaft slightly while trying to locate the wheel onto the shaft. The main question is does this need to be in a certain position relative to the top gear wheel above it as the teeth mesh together and the wheel I pulled off seems to be a sort of double gear sprung loaded in the centre. Any help is appreciated as I can't find anything to help online.
Bike is a 2006 1200gs.

If you look carefully there are some alignment marks on the gears,
Two dots on one,
One on the other

Hopefully you've not tried to start it!!!

Alt least its not like the old British twins which could be timed with one cam 360 out of phase so it sucked through the exhausts and blew out of the carbs.

Not very clear but you can see one dot about 7 o clock on the top gear wheel

He's had all the help he needs. Line up the dots and do the bolt up. Sorted.
Alternatively buy a workshop manual like anyone else does when they start taking the bike apart.

Most manuals appear AFTER whipping it apart then it's "oh feck where does this bit go?"
But to be fair I did a Fiat Punto HGT cylinder head - cam belt lost its teeth - with no manual. The head stretch bolts box told me the torque settings.
