My mate has tried to remove the front sprocket from his F800 but it wont budge!!!! the nut came off ok and he has tried penetrative spray and used a sprocket puller but it wont budge. There is no circlip holding it in place. Any ideas? how about a heat gun????

MAKE SURE ! the tab washer tabs are bent back, use a long tube on the breaker bar

yeah he got the bolt out no problem, but cant get the sprocket to slide off the spline!

That should slide off with your fingers once the bolt is off. Has it worn and jammed itself on the splines ?

I assume this is a GS we are talking about?
Has the chain been removed, or at least had all tension removed? If not then this would present a problem.
Unfortunately for you, my experience was straightforward - loosen and remove bolt, reduce tension, remove and replace sprocket, re-tension. Ity should be that simple. If not there is something wrong, and introducing force without understanding will lead to unintended problems.

Yes they can stick extremely badly. I've shock one off. And another one just came off.
Have fun!

Quick update. It was stuck fast so he shocked it with a hammer! and that did the trick! thanks Ferrol

Bit late as you've sorted it but you need to get yourself a sprocket puller... £8.50 from Amazon. I changed my chain and sprocket this weekend and the front sprocket was seized on and the only thing that worked was having the proper tool.
