Front suspension noise on 2007 r12gs

Just noticed for the first time on a short ride with - unusually for me - no earplugs. Sounds like something is loose around the headstock area, and it makes a light rattling/rubbing noise when I go over bumps. I thought it might be the clocks so I tried grabbing those with one hand but the noise persists.

Any ideas?

Please tell me the front shock isn't f***ed.

The shock will probably leak before it gets noisy but if could be bottoming out. If its the shock (and only "if"), a rebuild is much less costly than replacement.

Check the front ball joint for free play.

Check the screen isn't rubbing on air defectors.

If all seems ok, all you can do is take off the bodywork and look for anything thats getting loose in some way.
