Here's a weird one. I haven't ridden my bike for a week or two and last night went for a 20 mile bimble. I noticed stopping for a couple of sets of traffic lights that under heavy braking there was a squeak from the front somewhere - I assume the suspension. I then did it a few more times (enforcing a hard brake on an empty road). After maybe six or seven stops, it seemed to stop.

anyone got any ideas what the hell this was? And more importantly should I be worried / getting free with the WD40?

Possibly crud in calipers/pads.
WD40 here probably wouldn't be a good move.

do not wd40 it
pop down to shop on saturday i will check out brakes and sus aswell anytime after 10am till 5pm

cheers for the replies! (and the offer of a look over). I suppose I didnt quite explain my squeak. With the brakes locked on, the noise seemed to follow the dive of the suspension. Not dirty pads or discs I dont think, was thinking more along the lines of maybe the fork seals moving over dried forks???? Bit of a long shot. Its gone now, so must have been something like that.

Will of course let you all know if the front wheel drops off........

Spray some GT85 over the stanchions;lubes the seals and it also smells nice.

.. I noticed ... that under heavy braking there was a squeak from the front somewhere ..
I get that as well (2005 1150 GSA) but as you said only under heavy braking.

It only lasts a split second and I just assumed it was something to do with the ABS. :nenau
