Can anyone help me put my mind at rest?

I have just had the front wheel out of my 1200 for a tyre.

When I refitted it, I followed the instructions / torque settings however it now drags more than before I did the job. I've tried loosening everything and starting again & also pulling the brake on to settle the pads.

The wheel isn't solid but it drags to the point that it only will go a quarter turn under its own momentum.

Is this normal? Will it settle down.

Thanks.

Steve

Fitting the front wheel on a 1200 is pretty simple, but check these points:

You've remembered to reinstall the spacer on the left hand side.

The wheel is installed the correct way round. If you have ABS this is obvious but I suppose it might be possible to get it wrong if you haven't.

Torques, for reference, are: spindle 50Nm, pinch bolt 19Nm, calipers 30Nm.

If all looks OK, ride it carefully for a couple of miles without using the front brake at all. Then check your brake discs, if they are hot, your brakes are binding. If not, I wouldn't worry.

Further to Mouse's post, if everything is in correctly, bounce the front suspension down hard a couple of times before tightening the pinch bolt. This is a common problem with pogo sticks.

Check your speedo drive, I had the same problem on mine (1150) only to find that the worm drive had not seated properly it's made of plastic so chances are it's u/s.
Paddy.

Take your brake calipers off.
If wheel now spins freely, clean your calipers (pads out etc).
If still dragging, then wheel off and check wheel bearings.
That's all it can be, assuming everything put back as should be and nothing is rubbing against the wheel (ABS sensors?)
Good luck................
