Ok so the manual says remove the two retaining bolts then push the quick release axle to the right. But the axle does not budge. What am I missing or does it just need a belt with a block of wood or something?

On the hexhead 1200GS the front wheel spindle screws out?
I know it's not the same bike, but....

:nenau

Erm you answerd your own question :blast most spindles require a twist and/or tap, shove to move them, esp if they have little or no grease on often is the case

And I'd agree with above it may unscrew out too

I mean front wheel removal, dam predictive text.

My front wheel axle took a bit of persuasion to come out, and it was slightly easier with the weight of the wheel supported but the instructions do work!

Is yours an LC as in post 2012. The older version seems to need to be screwed out with a special tool.

Mine is an LC and manual said it just pushes to the right.

Front she'll removal

Looking at the wheel from the front, Before you undo the pinch bolts, have you undone the right side axle nut ! Then undo the pinch bolts, remove axle nut and push the axle out the left, (or right if your sat on the bike) also don't forget to remove the brake calipers otherwise you'll scratch your wheels, i cable tie the calipers back to the header so that they don't touch the wheels.

When i refit, i always work the front suspension before i tighten the pinch bolts up, it allows the wheel to align itself.

Yes, 2014 GSA. But as Ding-Dong says have you removed the large hex head screw marked '1' in the diagram as well as the two bolts?

Thanks for the help. Got the wheel off no problem once I had remembered how to read.

Both the front and rears are very easy to take off. Nicely engineered. One thing tho the PR4s are not any quieter then them Metzlers. The pitch of the road noise is higher but that's it. But on th up side it's nice to have new 'round', as apposed to squared off, tires on.

Once you have loosened off pinch bolts and axle, just tap the axle out. Use any straight thing and any lumpy thing.

Is the ride quality different with the PR4'?
It's very nice to have new round tires on again. So it's turning into bends just as it should. It's been wet since Iv fitted them so no idea what there like in the dry.

One thing tho. Boy are they noisy! It's a sound like wind from the other end of a tin pipe. Quite high pitched. I though I had buggered the front bearing. So I propped up the front wheel took the brake calipers off and spun the wheel with a brill and a mop head. Bearings are silent. Then I thought maybe it's the brakes ringing the disks, but it's the same sound under braking.
I have a big screen and the baffles are in on the Acro, so maybe it's just that the rest of the bike is quiet. And I like to ride with the screen fully up and my visor open. So hay ho.
