Hi All

Just changed tyre on my front wheel and i am getting terrible shaking coming through the front wheel. Can someone post me close ups of the axle on both sides, as I have a little gap between the stanchion and the wheel, I may be missing a second spacer or something,

Rgds Tom

also should the axle be exactly flush with the outside of the stanchion, rhs looking forward. Tom

Hi Tom
As you sit on the bike you have a small spacer on the left side between the bearing and the inside of the fork leg. The spindle acts as the spacer on the right side and fits flush with the outside of the fork leg when fitted correctly.

assuming you fitted the wheel correctly, did you balance the new tyre/wheel.

Now this is Constructive reading. Makes a change from the Beano/Dandy stuff.

Out of interest which tyre have you fitted , I ask as I had two Tourance Nexts with the exact same problem , one did 800 miles before I changed it in France , then they fitted another Next and it was still there but not as bad.
Now run Conti Trail Attacks ...brilliant tyre.
Hope you get it sorted.

Oh Dear, they are Tourance next. i watched the guy balance them, I will ask him to have another go. They shake at basically all speeds... Flamin Nora, there is no way I will get the Spanish fitter to change them here in Cadiz. Ahhhhhh :(

Hi Stick, i did ask the fitter to put the same tyres on as the original, but he could not get them. I was pretty happy with them, how do you rate the Contis compared with the originals?

Tom

Hey Cement, Thanks for the Diagram, i have installed the wheel correctly then. I was pretty sure all was good with the position of the disc in the caliper. Tom

I had a front tyre that would not balance and it was caused by a manufacturing fault.......the bead wandered off centre over a small part of its circumference!!!!!!

Your welcome, scroll back from that link to give your self an exploded view of most of the bike. Could come in handy

Tom , I would rather run on bare rims than put Tourance next tyres on , Conti for me , okay they don't last that well , but when on they are brilliant. I have this view , spend 13k on bike , who the funk care how may miles you get on a tyre , it's the pleasure it gives you not the milage , if I get 2500 to 3000 miles on a set I've done well
