Gezzar. I suggest you do a search on this. You will find loads of stuff regarding the crap quality of of the front yolk.
If BWM tell you they don'y have a problem then... there is no other word.... they are LYING.

The finish is shite, most of them flake off - mines been doing it for over 18months, whats the point of putting a new one on, it'll only be in the same condition in a years time -

i don't worry about it, its not going to effect the handling or is a safety issue, get your priorities right, i'd worry more if i had servo brakes .

My GSA is 18 months old and the fork brace has been due for replacement for 6 months. They know its a problem and they hope you will go away. Just get them to fit a new one.

:beerjug: :beerjug:

what are all you folks going to do when the warranty runs out ???

Mine's flaky after 10 mths/18k miles.......told prestige about it when booked in for this service but said wait 'til the spring......they know all about it and didn't even bat an eyelash at it.

When I get the new one in I'll lacquer it or something........then again, i could get another two new ones before the warrenty finishes

Front yoke ??

Is there a back one then ?

Do you mean 'top yoke'

or 'fork bridge' connected to the wishbone.

or some else completely different ?

Buy a 1200.......... so they can be reunited with the warranty team

It`s called character innit steptoe:D
I just smear a bit of the trusty vaseline on my flaky member:eyebrow
That seems to do the trick.
If you`re really that bothered, take it off and get it anodised or re painted. Otherwise just ignore it, once all the paint has flaked off it will all be the same colour and you won`t notice it anymore :thumb. If you get it fixed by bmw warranty you`ll just have same problem again and you will have been without your bike for a week!!

i just leave mine to flake merrily away - still the original fitted, i don't look at my bike, i ride it .

:D

According to my dealer, they flake from the inside out, something to do with porous alloy, so you can paint it how you like, it will still flake!

Get the original one polished. Had mine done over 12 months ago and still looks like 'new'.
