Steptor has the right of it (as usual) - have ridden right through winter with Muffs and Gaucho fitted, not worn my winter gloves or waterproof trousers once - for the price they are brilliant.

That's all very well if you don't find bar muffs restrictive or can find gloves that do not apply pressure to your finger tips. Both apply to me. Hence my ongoing search for winter finger warmth.

i used to use inner gloves on me summer ridin gloves before i could afford these fancy uns which arnt that better.
mite be worth a try , them thin thermal types?

I concur re- the muffs.... but on my way back from Morocco last December I discovered something else amazing...
If you are wearing a heated jacket (not vest... the full arms jobby).. turn it up a bit more if your thumbs or finger tips are cold.... keep turning it up till suddenlty....!!!!.... Hands are warm...
Since that long cold day on the m-way I've confirmed this more than once... if the heated liner is warming your forearms (and likely over-warming your torso)... your hands recieve warm blood and get warm too...

Muffs look odd but THEY WORK if still got cold hand get a pair of electrically heated gloves, I briough a gerbing jacke to ride through Alaska with and it really was / is first calss, also keeps your hands warm as well. Recommended.

Rs , please please please try a pair . What have you got to lose, if you dont like 'em sell 'em on here for say 70% of the full price.
Only got mine 6 mths ago but they are THE best thing I have bought for my GS in the last 6years . As Neil says there is no reason to suffer.
I was out 2 nights ago in the rain at 11pm at night. Dont know what the temp was ( just above freezing I guess) but the overnight low temp forecast was -4. I had completely unlined ,very short, summer gloves on. I had warm dry hands and I have NEVER used the heated grips since I bought the muffs.
They take a day or two to get used to but they arent restrictive cos the GS handguards 'force' the muffs apart.
You have claustrophobic hands - it's all in the mind.

Spoke to a gs rider before i got my gs about things ect and asked him what was that on his levers. Its velcro inside out 
he said he did a lot of m/way and his finger tips go num form the cold and this helps anyone on here done this.

Tucano Muffs really are the Dog B*ll*x when it comes to toasty digits. I`ve had nine for over " years now and they are excellent.

I dont know about "inside out" but it would make since if he had stuck some of the smooth soft and furry 'loop' side of velcro on the levers instead of the rough 'hook' part. Never thought of that. Good idea

if my dainty little fingers spent a lot of time resting on the levers - it would make sense as the lever would act as a heat exchanger - taking the warmth and dispersing it.
but they dont.
and i cant be convinced about muffs - i feel like i'm handcuffed to the 'bars

+1 on the Tucano Muffs, Ive had a set (Thanks Val) on all winter and have only needed lined gloves a couple of times, mainly unlined summer weight, been warm and dry, a little awkward remembering where the horn button was in the beginning

+1, been wearing them for years, first saw them in use by another microlight flier - and it's bleedin' cold up there holding on to the bar.
