Has anyone had their ignition lock freeze up on them whilst the key is in and bike being ridden?Twice this week(Tues & Wed Morning) My key has gone into the lock ok and turned but upon arrival at work the key will turn but not come out.BMW Technicians think it could be frozen in.This happen to anyone else?

Not on my GS but on other bikes, yeah (the pins can frezze which explains why you can still turn the key).

Try some WD40 to drive out the moisture :nenau

Yeah thats what the tech guy suggested
(Thanks John.......but cannot imagine you are sad enough to read about BMW's when ya spend all day fixin em!)

And also Jim and Steve at SSB said the same...Thanks guys:aidan

Only ever had a lock freeze solid B4.:nenau

take a long hard piss on it that should sort it out well to get the key out anyway then go with the wd40...:thumb2

WD40 ain't good for locks..it attracts grit and shit :nono

Not quite sure what the answer might be but WD40 is only a short term 'get you out of trouble' type fix :)

(PS Google it or search here....I still use it but many many others frown on it ;) )

Don't know about UK, but here in Norway you will get oil specifically made for lubricating (car) locks and to prevent them freezing on just about every service station. Common practise to use before the cold season - and then reapply as needed/after washing etc:aidan
