Oh and doesn't add a line to your files telling what uploaded it to the net LOL

I'm working on building a site of my owna dn need to try a stand alone FTP prog I've tried Core Lite and it was okay but "tedious"

Any suggestions folks "Useful" ones that is! :aidan:aidan

Tedious?:blast

FTP progs ARE tedious....it's a tedious job ;)

I use CORE FTP myself, and it's very reliable and fast, not overly complicated either....

The full version is also free from HERE.

I've also used Terrapin and several others, but in all honesty, they're all pretty dull.....CORE just does exactly what it's supposed to with the minimum fuss, and I found that it is more stable than Terrapin and some others too- if I've got a whole site to backup/upload, I can set it off and minimise it with no problem to let it run in the background, whereas the others tended to hang or drop connection if I did that with them :(

If you use Dreamweaver or frontpage or most other design progs, they have their own built in FTP progs which work.....I prefer to work offline though and keep everything separate.

There's also a pretty god chance that the ISP you use will have their own recommended (and thus fully supported) FTP prog- can be handy for finding site-specific settings that are optimised for that particular ISP with details on their help pages , so it may be worth looking at your ISP's pages :)

If you happen to find an ftp prog which isn't tedious, let us know ;)

:)

The integral FTP client in Windows XP seems to work for the limited amount of work I do.

I got the Fire FTP jobbie and it's dead on except I goofed a log in now I'm on a temp ban !

Some hacker I'd make

Thanks for all the help folks!
