just reading thread ever gone past 0 on fual gauge and wondered whats the average miles to a tank sensable riding

im getting about 170 theni hit reserve how come

That more or less matches what I used to get from my R1200GS. Did manage to get about 220 out of a tank riding conservatively and riding beyond the 0 countdown.

Those that get 300+ out of a tank are usually riding a GSA (with a larger tank)

Sounds about right

Standard GS I assume?

170 to reserve light on, then around 40 - 50 on reserve

How many litres do you put in for your 170 miles?

From nearly empty to brim-full I can fit almost 21 litres into mine

At around 50 mpg this gives me around 220 miles, although I normally fill up at about 210 - usually about 20.3 litres (regular commuter in case you think I'm unduly sad)

I must try harder! :blast

50mph? I'm not sure I can ride at that speed so that's me stuffed. Should've kept the F800... :nenau

Usually go to reserve about 170 but can only get about 15/16 litres in tank so I dont start to worry until I have done about 200 miles ,then it starts to get serious. I once did nearly 250 miles when touring France ,but I was aware petrol was difficult to get and it was nice and hot ,doing long distance and riding no more than about 70 so everything was on my side. Bloody relieved when I found petrol station open though.
