I received my renewal “ invitation “ this morning for my 2002 1150GS.

Well, invitation, I say, it said they’d automatically renew it. I thought “yeah, you fucking won’t “ then saw the price!

Robbing bastards….. £59:29!
Thats fully comp, protected no claims.

Last year it was £62:36 so a reduction of £3:07.

I’ve decided to let them automatically renew. :D

You 1300 GSA owners can only dream of renewal quotes like that. :dabone

Me too, gone from 113 to 96 on my Thruxton R.

Robbing bastards................

What did they value your bike at though. The cheapest quote for my R1200s was £69 but they only valued the bike at £2070 😵‍💫 so if it was stolen or a total loss I’d be looking at around £1600 after excesses.

It’s worth comparing the comparison sites too.

Sometimes big differences.

Even on cheap ish bikes …..

74 down from 96 which was down from 113.

And that’s like for like, with the same company, go figure….

The price comparison site won't know you are an existing customer with a renewal of £96 and may be offering the lower £74 regardless, so what happened to legislation stopping new customers receving a better price than existing bods ?

Insurance is just a legalised racket. My Bikesure invitation for a Tiger 800 was £350 last year, zero claims etc and it jumped to over £700 this year (LOL). It did make it easier to convince my wife that the increased insurance of the 1250GS wasn't as big as we'd thought since the Tiger would have been over £700 this year 👀

Similarly on our car, it jumped £100. I ended up paying £115 more from a different insurer on a comparison website because I'd rather give anyone else but Ageas my money after they've tried to extort me... I'm a principled guy :DD

Had my renewal from Cornmarket (IAM) 2010 GS TC.

Last year £146, renewal £212.

Called Devitt they quoted same underwriter, Ageas, at £82.

Called Cornmarket like I do every year and they removed the £50 !! Broker fee, and the £25 excess protection fee that I’d had free last year as a sweetener, premium then came down to £137.

Still not good enough so I managed to get them to get it down to £102.

I’ve stayed with them because I actually like the guys there, easy to speak to and all mods covered. I’ll forgive them the ludicrous, computer generated renewal premium that they manage to reduce every year with a phone call.

Shouldn’t have to do it I know but they’re all the same.

Why shouldn’t you? :nenau
They throw out a piss take price in the hope you / people don’t challenge it.
Unless you have an old nail of an 1150 GS. :D
