Fuel cap and lights fault..

I went out today for the first ride of the year. I did about 60 miles and then pulled in to fill with petrol.
The keyless cap wouldn’t open. Tried on and off and moving key nearer, still no good. So gave up to go home. As I started bike the TFT stated 2 faults. ‘Front sidelight faulty’ and ‘Active headlight faulty’. Strange coincidence!
Fuel cap still not working and lights faults still showing when home 10 miles later.
The 1250GS is only 8 months old so can go to dealers, but none local and was wondering if it was a simple fix that someone may have experienced before. Fuse etc.?

The ignition was off when you tried the fuel cap?
Loosen the 2 front torx screws and the cap will open if faulty

Yes ignition off. I have removed the 2 front screws to open the filler but still not working. Just odd the 2 lights faults appeared at the exact same time!
