Picked up a PD yesterday (purple and white :thumb ) needs a fair bit of TLC but for the price it was, it seems good. One thing I see is that both fuel cocks are weeping gunge so I presume seals/gaskets have gone..

Seems easy enough job according to the manual, are there any pitfalls I should be aware of before tackling the job???

Beware that the little plastic "on/off/reserve" indicator/cover thingys become brittle and break !
The cocks will be 100% better with a stripdown/clean.

good luck

I stripped and cleaned the fuel cocks recently. Well worth doing. The bodies were partially seized, but a good soaking with WD40 freed them up. Also, the wrong gaskets were in place, so replaced them witht the correct ones.

Important that you free up the taps so that the locking nut is free to rotate independent of the body. Otherwise it is difficult to finally position the stopcocks to be 'parallel' to the tank.

Pretty simple, cheap and satisfying job

Taps

Have had problems with the internal washers on vintage bike and modern fuel. Worth looking to see if a replacement is available?

Did you get them from Motorworks or similar?
