I know its dull and done to death but on this tour starting Friday this week I am going to keep a fuel consumption log as its so expensive these days.

Route is

Sananangino
Eaux-Bonnes
Arrens Marsous
Luz Saint Sauveur
Arreau
Broto
Biescas

Saint Christau
Sigues
Auritz
San Sebastian
Pamplona
Bilbao
Harrogate

1800 miles and most of the best twisties in the mountains. Should see us crossing the border many times. Should be nice:aidan

I hope to average 46MPG. Will advise after the event (yes, I know a lot of you don't give a fcuk, I normally don't either but its such a big part of the cost of the annual tour these days so am going to record it out of interest)

umm. Mine varies from 60 down to 38. The ole mule doesn't like heavy luggage (me and alcohol! :friday :jager) and doesn't fair better for these saver fuels. IT does like bimbling along rather than being shagged out on the dual carriageway commute. Abroad, it drinks what I can fathom out isn't diesel. Another thing I forget is hills. Don't have those at home. Apart from the one up to the sea. Thanks to the national curriculum I can't work it out, so I have an app for that, fuel saver. Very handy.

Be interesting to see your results!

Just came back from a two day jaunt in France. 46.8 MPG with top box and panniers. Biggest difference I reckon is the throttle lock from Jaws that I added that saves my right wrist (yes I know... for other things just to preempt..):D

fuel consumption

Just returned from Morocco via Spain from the Pyrenees were we live. 4600 kilometers over 11 days with the longest days driving being a 720k drive preceeded by a 650k one, on the gs1200 adventure. My wife is petite and slim and we were loaded with Stalhkoffer boxes and a topcase plus a small tank top bag. Fuel consumption was around 51 mpg driving at legal speeds on a mixture of roads. Fuel is about 10% cheaper in Spain than in France. In France avoid motorway stations and try and purchase from a supermarket as they are usually cheaper. Fuel prices in Morocco in April 2011 are 1,10€ per litre; Spain about 1,28€ and France anything up to 1,53€ per litre. If you have a Wunderlich brake or clutch lever check these very regularly as mine fell off and despite 2 letters and several emails to the managing director I haven't had a reply. A few weeks ago the bracket for the Stahkoffer topcase fell off and went through a car windscreen so check all fittings and don't underestimate the lossening effect of vibrations!!!

Are you working it out from actual miles per litre or using the computer average?

Is it possible to use the computer average or does it need resetting for every trip/day :nenau
