Little legs

Guest
Hi there,

Just sold my 1150 GS 20 litre which did 200 miles before the light came on. I was wondering with the 33 litre tank, what is the actual tank range on the 1200 GSA. The MCN state 220 on thier test.

By the way my GSA is due for delivery the end of June and i have to ride a 125 scooter till then.

Its a load of pants but better than being stuck in traffic. If you see someone on a blue scooter with a black BMW suit then thats me. Please wave or wheelie past.

Cheers

IIRC I was getting 180 miles before the light on the "standard" 1200GS, which all things being equal = 11.25 miles / litre. 33 litres - 4 for the reserve = 29. Multiply 29 by 11.25 = 326 miles to the light.

HTH.

After reading MCN yesterday I finally decided they are a bunch of C***S. How could they compare the GSA to the KTM and complain about 'off road tyres' 'over £1K more' and say you only get 220 miles from 33 litres :spitfire

I get between 180 and 200 before light comes on from 20 litres :thumb

Cool, Thought so.

Cant wait to ride the GSA this Saturday. Im only a little fella at 5 6 so i will let you know how i get on.

Blimmey your brave having ago with legs that short :bow

I am about 5ft 8ins. I sat on one last weekend and could reach the floor OKish but wandered about any bad cambers. I would think twice without a lower seat. So keep us informed :thumb

R1200GS

I was off work today and took advantage of the nice weather we had. I had the tank topped right up and the light came on at 218 with 54 showing in reserve. That's a good 270ish miles before I start pushing the bugger, so dear knows how MCN got their fuel reading for the 12GSA. :nenau

Yep those cambers are a bugger allright.

Did a quality impression of Wayne Sleep when i first got my GS. Came to a stop and put me foot down only to feel the bike keep on going i had to slide off the seat try to man handle the bike back up. And me other foot slipped off the other peg. Must have looked V funny.

Just before i sold the GS i was filtering through stationary traffic when i came to a stop and had a bit of a wobble, I was too close to the side of a car to get my leg down so i just stook my elbow out and held the bike up on his roof line. The guy looked at me wondeing what the noise was. I the composed my self and put the other leg down into 1st and rode off.

Anyway i reckon the GSA with the standard GS low seat should be fine. I just hope i can see over the screen.

im 6ft 2in and have a 33 inside leg and only just touch the floor with tiptoes so good luck mate

MCN have done this in the past, I think they must drive everywhere in first gear. That’s what happens when you let sports bike junkies out on a real world bike.

Personally I get 200ish before the light comes on but this does go down a bit when I have the luggage and wife on board.

In 2,300 miles on a 120GSA, worst tank was 270, best was 320.

I cruise at 85-90mph with just a 52litre Givi top box BECAUSE MY FRIGGIN PANNIERS AREN'T IN!!!!!. Basically, 10 miles per litre is a good rule of thumb for any bike.

{Cue extreme views about Honda SP1's on track days getting 60 miles from a tank and C1s getting 200mpg from grandad's moonshine etc, etc}

Paul.
