My 1150GS is at 24000 so I'm going to tackle the replacement of the fuel filter, is there a how-to guide anywhere on here? I've done a search and am a little confused about whether I need hose clamps, new clips etc. Any advice would be most welcome before I get half way through and realise I haven't got all the kit!

When I did mine, all i used was a fresh seal on the tank. All other stuff was re used. The biggest hassle is getting all the gubbins in and then back out of the tank.Just take your time removing and replacing the innards, the actual job is quite easy, even for a numpty like me who'd never done it before.

Good luck.

do a search here.

There is an excellent modification, which has it moved close to the exterior of the bike. handy for travel in far flung places if you get dodgy fuel.:thumb2

a Steptoe modification i fink:)

first good tip do it when the fuel tank is nearly empty
as the tank is quite heavy
next make sure you purchase all new clips as the original ones will need to be cut off if original get a new o ring
when i did mine i had trouble getting the pump out because of the pipes and be careful with the sender unit

Did mine last weekend and I would recommend having some spare hose clips in case you can't reuse the old ones as they are meant to be "one use only". Just make sure the dealer gives you the right ones and not oversize DAMHIK:spitfire

Run the fuel really low and mark the mounting panel position to make sure you put it back in the correct position otherwise you get it all back together and it's not right DAMHIK:spitfire

Other than that it is a fairly straightforward job if just a bit fiddly, just take your time and before you refit the tank to the bike just check that the mounting panel O ring has seated properly and there is no leakage.:thumb

+1. Don't force the pump. Do you remember the Kripton factor and the rubex cube???
