Hi, mine's on 04 GS12, took it in today to be serviced, they said try and have the tank fairly empty but I overdid it and on the way got down to a predicted range of 9 miles. so i stopped and put a couple of litres in the tank. After restarting the range didn't go up as I expected, in fact the range continued to go down to zero. even odder, the fuel guage didn't go up, and soon showed completely empty. I'd just put two litres in so the range should have increased by about 25 miles.

It's like the brain didn't recalculate the range, maybe because I didn't put enough fuel in for it to register a refuel:confused: Any other ideas/experience, maybe it doesn't recalculate unless the refill goes beyond the "reserve"?

IIRC you need to put more than 5 litres in to reset the countdown.

i ve got the 2007 gs and the fuel remaining gauge is a total waste of time. the yellow fuel warning light normally comes on at about 145 miles after fill up then it resets at least 4 times up to 180 miles when it eventually runs down to naught. My expirence is that you then have at least 30- 40 more miles before you actually run out of fuel. :mmmm My previous 04 model was much better in this respect, once the light come on at about 180 miles it stayed on until empty. my tip is reset the fuel trip meter every time you fill up and use that as a fuel left indicator.:)

Fuel & Gauge & who knows

My 2007 GS will show Fuel and triangle after only 112mles on the trip. The range then shows 45 miles. I have ridden until the range shows '0' and on another 22mls and then filled the tanks with 16lts.
This GS only done 1100mls and have taken back to dealer twice for fix... they are still working on it with BMW. What a lot of crap to purchase an on board computer and ride with the f...in light on for half the journey.:spitfire I'm working on a rebate on the purchase price of this useless item.
Will keep you informed.
But just love the bike after 10yrs on an RT
:beerjug:
