fuel gauge bypass

I have now suffered the failed fuel gauge strip to go with the failed left hand heated grip, broken dip bulb holder, and failed tyre pressure sensor.

Has anyone found a way of switching off the yellow triangle or bypassing the fuel sensor and making it think it's full. I really don't care about the gauge ( I've managed for 40 years with out one on my bikes) but I would like the poxy warning to be gone!

If BMW can't get these things to work reliably then they shouldn't bother to fit gimmicks to their bikes, they fail and let down what is basically a very good bike.

If this is what happens to a 5 year old semi computerised bike, then what's in store for the ride by wire, two wheel computer that they are selling now?

Rant over. I really would like to know if anyone has got around this problem without having to replace or zap the fuel strip.

Stick duct tape over the offending warning lights.

Have a search here, I posted a link for a way to full the system into thinking it has fuel. Sorry I would link to it but I am on my phone so not the easiest to find stuff.

Most bikes have 2 or 3 wires if you connect correct pair it'll say full 24/7 you need a wiring diagram.

Here you go for the resistor spoof. I have linked to the final version but have a read of the thread to get the full spec on the resistors. Although this is about the RT it works on all the BMW fuel strip equipped bikes.

When having the same issue with my fuel strip I am sure I came across something somewhere on the web about a fuel level warning light bypass and associated wiring diagram but I can't remember where sorry........

I got similarly frustrated with the yellow warning lamp and just ended up zapping mine with the piezo out the garden BBQ and the fuel guage actually worked ok for the first tankful and has just read full ever since, even when the tank is near empty.

I can live with that just fine compared to paying the BMW UK's network £200 every couple of years for the crap fuel strip that at least BMW USA acknowledge is not fit for purpose and replace it for free.

Well I had intended to do the spof mod at the weekend, thanks MarkiGSA, but while riding home tonight the fuel gauge decided to start working again! It doesn't read correctly just1 block out after 140 miles, but I'll wait and see what happens, at least the warning triangle has disappeared.

Thanks for the offer seahorse but I will probably just bypass the gauge. After showing full fuel for a couple of days it's now showing empty again.
