If fitted by a BMW dealer you should have a two year warranty on the part.

I think this was covered earlier - Yes you get a two year warranty, but if it fails during that time the replacement part is only covered for the unexpired portion of the original two year period.

This is normal for most vehicle warranty repairs.
 
Indeed it is normal. But some people mistakenly get the idea that if a part repeatedly fails every year or two you can get it replaced for as long as you keep the vehicle provided the work is done by a franchised dealer.
