Fuel gauge problem

My 1200 GS has had its fuel sender, pump and whole instrument console replaced under warranty due to the fuel gauge reading half full all the time. All the other threads refer to the float sticking problem but none to a prob such as this. Has anyone any ideas or had a similar problem?

Apart from this minor (but very annoying) point I love the bike to bits.
