serviced my 1100 today including fuel filter.
went straight to the petrol station when i had done as i was obviously extremely low on fuel after fitting new fuel filter.
fuel gauge showing no bars and light on.
filled with fuel, 22 litres, rode off and fuel light still on and gauge not working.
stopped and checked electric connection plug to tank was in properly, it was.
rode for about 10 mile with fuel light still on and gauge not working and suddenly fuel light went out and gauge showing full.
obviously not concerned as working now but just wondering why this happened. maybe the float was jammed and worked itself free

I reckon you hit the nail on the head with the stuck float :thumb
one tip to try next time you have it apart is to invert the empty tank, on mine I could hear the float falling to the end of its travel (after 5000 miles without a gauge :blast)
