Got a 2010 RT built in 6/2010 so one of the first camheads.
Fuel gauge started telling porkies and changing it's mind all the time. One minute full next half full then back to full again; and thats while riding not on side stand.
Also fill it up and it might take a few hundred yards before it says full.

Is this the sign of the famous strip starting to go? :tears

I'm not sure when the change back to a float took place, but indeed those sound like the symptoms my GSA displayed when it went mad.............
One caveat, re the "few hundred yards before it shows full" - mine has always done that from new, & since renewal under warranty.

My 2011 RT's fuel guage took anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour to register any fuel I'd put in. Once it finally sorted itself out it was pretty reliable with regards to how much fuel was left.
Conversely my 2005's fuel guage was pretty much faultless.

Thanks for your advice.

I'm told that first revised senders were from August 2010. I'm not sure though if this was a better strip or they went back to float.

Gauge on my 13 yr old 1150GS still faultless.

Think I'd better get into the habit of using one of those trips every time I fill up.

The RT & 1200GS range (not the 1200R) reverted to a float. They no longer use the strip, & in view of what it must have cost them in Warranty claims, I doubt they ever will again.

I've owned 2 x RT's & ridden many others equipped with the "strip" actuated gauge. They all showed full after 2 - 300 yards. Never any more.
Your experience shows how cantankerous they can be.
