Hi all,

I managed to snap off the left hand side fuel injector retainer on my R1150GS (year 2000). :blast

How can I get the snapped off part out of the fuel hose without damaging the hose?
How hard is it to change the hose?

Thanks for any info,
Niki

I'd be thinking of perhaps running a self tapping screw up the broken end and using that to grip with some pliers to tug it out of the pipe perhaps

You might be better off using a piece of the rubber hose and some fuel line clips and making a join, provided you can get hold of a spare one. I think the part only comes as part of the fuel pressure regulator.

Thanks.
I tried pulling the broken part out with a screw and pliers as suggested. I even warmed the fuel hose with a heat gun to make it more flexible. Unfortunately, the broken off part won't move.
Any more ideas to remove it?

Stewart, I just checked an online parts catalogue and it looks like you are right. That bracket seems only to be available as part of the fuel distributor (part number 13537664857).

Guessing from the location of the fuel distributor it looks like quite a lot of work to change it just because of that retainer.
I like the idea of using a piece of fuel hose to make a join. Guess I could still fix it properly at a later time when I have the bike apart for some other work.

Did anyone have this problem before?
Can the retainer be separated from the hose without snapping it off?

As I'm planning to register the bike in the UK I also wonder whether the bike would pass a MOT with the join?

Thanks,
Niki

So anyone who has ever replaced a pressure regulator will have two of them, Why not try asking in the wanted section ? nice neat join using some of the right pipe and proper clips you can run forever, there would not be an issue with the MOT :thumb2

I found this thread by a search and same thing happened me.
Anyone advise? I've just placed a wanted thread on here too.

Find the price of a full replacement from Motorworks, subtract a third (ignore postage 'cos I'll still have to pay that) and PM me.....I have a spare :)

I've changed one of these in-situ without taking too much of the bike apart. It's quite a tight job but not impossible. It looks like you need to take the air box off but you don't:). Prob only take an hour. It would be cheaper to just buy the hose 'spider' without the reg cos you can swap over them easily

Tone, that's just the clip thing. The bit I'm talking about is bigger, it's black, held on with two allen screws and the fuel line goes into it.

Guys, thanks for your help (and kind your offer Fanum). Motorworks had a secondhand one and I had other things to get from them, so it's hopefully all sorted with one delivery.
