I brought the bike into the dealers today, as I had a recall letter from BMW reference the fuel pump flange. On the way home, the computer refused to recognise the £30 of fuel I put in, and ran down to zero.
This has never happened before, so was wondering if this could be connected to the flange, or just a coincidence?

Double check the little plugs are properly plugged in on top of the pump housing. One is the fuel gauge. Failing that just take it back. It worked before you took it in I presume. Fuel strip failure possibly.

Thanks Andy
yeah it worked before. The bother with taking it back is that its a 120 mile round trip and a whole dam day wasted.

run a few tankful's through the bike before you take it back, if the tanks innards are disturbed it can confuse the system, mine took 3 tanks to start behaving after I had all the bits out

After I had a fuel strip replaced it packed in after one tank of fuel. But 4 tanks later it started to work again and still is so as mentioned by trainman that might do it.

The fuel strip is connected inside the tank to a connector underneath the fuel pump. It may be that they forgot to reconnect that up if they changed anything. I've also had water ingress in the connector on top of the fuel pump which caused the fuel reading to be zero. Was it at zero with a flashing warning light when you left the dealer? If it was then the likely cause is they haven't connected everything back up properly.

Thanks Trainman. I put in £10 today and i'll try another few top ups in the coming week.

They deny doing anything that would have affected the reader, namely they didn't remove the tank.
When I left the dealers, the fuel that was in the bike began to count down....I refuelled and the bike didn't recognise the new fuel. It counted down the old fuel to zero and then told me I had no fuel.
I'm going to do a few top ups, as recommended above, and if that tactic doesn't work, I'll take it back to the dealer (who'll doubtlessly tell me the problem was not of their making and charge me accordingly!!)
