Hi all,

Saw this and though that it would be useful for all heading to France:

http://www.prix-carburants.economie.gouv.fr/

For those that don't speak French, the idea is if you want a general idea of fuel prices just click on the department number for the area that you are in and if you want a specific list of fuel stations with costs, locations etc, then choose your 'poison' on the left hand side of the screen, enter the department number form the map and press the obvious search button. I understand that this is updated on a regular basis and the date this has been done is included on the search results.

Better still, spend a while on translate.google and register on the site. You can add routes and look fir the cheapest fuel on the route, and add fuel stops to your favourites so you don't spend hours trying to remember where you saw the best prices.
I use it all the time in France now. Last trip I could find diesel for less than €1.30, where it was €1.44 + on the motorway. More than 80 litres to a Hilux means you appreciate savings like that. Top site that works well on a smartphone.

Quality of fuel is the biggest issue in France. Some of the supermarket unleaded is shite, I had 2 tanks which made the bike breathless and got 20 miles less to the tank. No such worries in Spain, they only seem to have Repsol and Cepsa and they are both good.
I can't believe that people need to be told that supermarket fuel is cheaper than motorway service fuel, shocking news!!:blast

Supermarket fuel in France is easier to find than frogs legs :thumb
