All fuel bars on the left disappeared while range showed 20 miles

I chickened out when range showed 15 miles

Can I trust the range display or does loss of all fuel bars mean an imminent stop ?
:D

depends, normally they err on the side of caution. Ive done 10 miles after it says 0 miles left. It will all depend on how your riding at the time

After having done a few kms after the guage showed zero km to go, the tank took 22.19 litres after 428 km. Most probably did around 10 to 15 km. But the idea of taking some spare fuel and letting it run out would be the best way to really find out how accurate the guage is.

Good idea, these are not clinical guages, and results will probably vary from bike to bike:beerjug:

strap a 5 ltre fuel can to your bike and keep riding till you find out:thumb2

I am going to do that, when I have the inclination. I really need to know how far I can push it and having the guage on the left read empty and still have remaining miles to go showing does not help

:D

Shortly after I got my 07 GSA I had the miles to go reading 14 and it took just over33 litres, and that was without drilling the filler cap etc
