Fuel take off for multi-fuel camping stove

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone has got any ideas on how/where I could fit some sort of fuel take off point so I could drain fuel into a multi-fuel camping stove bottle.

Something on the line of a T-piece and a tap of some sort. No idea where to put it though as the tank isn't in the "normal" place. Or where to buy any bits.

Thoughts?

The tank is not drained by gravity but by the fuel pump so getting fuel out by gravity is not going to be easy.
 
If you have Q/D fuel connections then simply have a short piece of pipe with a Q/D connector on it.
 
Messing about with petrol on camp sites always seems very dangerous to me, it's bloody scary stuff.
I stick with gas bottles for this reason. :beerjug:

Yes, makes sense. But where would I have such a thing? K1200R had a quick release fuel hose on the tank, but that was quite well hidden. :) If it were accessible, and gravity fed, then yes, that'd be a very easy-peasy solution. :JB

Maybe I should just have a proper look around the bike instead of pestering ya'll with dumb questions. :D
 
Just buy one of the syphon kits on ebay for a couple of quid. Solves all the problems and you have something to do bike to bike fuel transfer too if you need it.
 
But a 1 litre fuel bottle (NB not a water bottle) and, when you pass a filling station, fill it up!

A siphon kit, or just a hose, has been considered too. :thumb2 However, I'd have to pack it down into my luggage and I'm not very keen on having a smelly hose in my luggage. :rolleyes:

Then I'd have to carry two bottles, and do two fill ups. :nenau And sometimes carrying "loose fuel" on ferries etc, they can get a bit twitchy. :rolleyes: (I'm obviously hoping that my other fuel bottle will not be recognized as such - double standards and all :augie)

Never had a problem with that.....nor taking it to the cabin for a brew:thumb
 
I've got a Coleman sportster which will work on petrol, but when I read up on the shite additives that are in petrol and then used for cooking I decided not to bother. I now use panel wipe bought from the local car paint retailer. It is basically low octane petrol without the harmful additives.

How long are you traveling for? As I've gone for weeks on a fully topped up stove and a 1 litre Triangia bottle straped to the back of my panniers.

We're only gone for 6-8 days, so depending on a few factors, we might be fine with one "fill-up". However, I'm more interested in being "self sufficient" (in the lack of a better term), i.e the principle of "if the bike has got fuel, I can eat"-sort of thing. :) Probably overkill. :rolleyes: :nenau
