Do any of you good people know of a short cut to raise the front of the fuel tank to allow access to the 2 screws that are required to fit the BMW engine bars?
If you do please post the method.
I'm off on Monday and would like to get them fitted in light of last Mondays lucky escape.
Got the bars second hand off here in the Sales / Wanted almost unmarked bargain.

it's not a big deal to take the tank off (if it's empty).

You don't even need to take it off -

One nut to undo, then pull the tank back -

How much of a short cut do you need ?

Thanks

Cheers that sounds short enough for me. I'm still a mechanical virgin with the Beamer rice burners present no problems but the beamer is different to me at the moment.

Bob, if they're not fitted already get yourself a set of quick release petrol pipe thingys.. (I'm on my 3rd glass of red)

Motorworks.. makes life a lot simpler... ;)

I didn't want to disconnect all the pipe work, so, to get a bit more room, I slipped one of those tie-down nylon thingies under the tank, took up the slack and hoisted it up, clear of the uppermost engine bar mount. You'd either need a garage, a tree with low branches, or a strong dining room ceiling rose and an understanding partner: take your pick! :P

um understanding partner !!!! what's one of those then - do they exist :D

I will have to use the garage

cheers :thumb
