Hi all
Any ideas of how i can increase the miles on my 1150gs only getting 147miles per tank. think it should be more.

Your tank range should be approximately 200 miles on the 1150 GS.

Are you sure you've not got a dent in the tank thats been filled at all ?

Next time you fill the tank when its empty check how many litres it takes against what an 1150 GS tank should hold. Not sure of the exact figures but if you do a search using the button above you may find the right answers.

If the tanks holding the right amount of fuel then you need to look further, obviously ie. fuel consumption. As I said try and use the search facility here. You'd be surprised what information we have here in the archives.

Welcome to the site BTW. :)

edit: Aligar, as an after thought, I'm going to move your thread over to the Technical section of this forum. Somebody there might be able to help you, I'm sure.

The range depends on how much you use the twisty thing on the front right hand side of the bike. High revs = very low miles/tank
Someone on this forum put their 1150GS on a rolling road and posted the figures.
My range varies hugely depending on my speed.

When was it last serviced.
Air filter, plugs TB synch and TPS voltage?.
Are the brakes binding?.
Does it still have the Cat?.My MPG improved greatly after ditching that.
An 1150 is not very aerodynamis.High road speeds equals poor MPG.

only getting 147miles per tank.

What do you mean when you talk about " per tank" -

Till you run out and the engine stops, or when the fuel light comes on.

Some bikes fuel lights come on very early, and can still have quite a lot of fuel left in the tank.

Fuel consumption.

Only way to check this thouroghly is to fill it up and reset the milage trip to zero, when the next fill up take note of the reading on the trip and compare it with the amount of fuel put into tank. Do beware that touratec panniers do not help fuel consumption at all! like having built in air brakes. My consumption with the afore mentioned definatly improved when I fitted lower ratio bevel box (3-1 down from 2.85 std) bevel box supplied by Mr Steptoe.
bit low for motorway use but perfect for commuting and traffic work.
dave ( low ratio) Gs.

I just put 17l in with 205 miles showing on the trip, and that's pretty typical for me. I make reasonable progress but I don't go looking for tickets, mostly open road with a bit of town work, pair of system panniers on all the time and top box when I need a bit more space.
