Me too...spoke to Vines and they have it booked in to replace fuel sensor.
Mine is showing full tank until c. 100 miles then it drops one notch. Then by 150 it drops a 2nd notch and then I fill up.
I am using the odometer until I get the sensor replaced under warranty.
So I recommend dealer man....
What year is your bike my 05 model did that, stayed full until used half a tank. My 07 model is better but is less acurate in lower half

Mine don't - quite impressive linear travel of the bars all the time - 08 GSA Still use the trip mind you as a failsafe.

My '06 GS had a fuel gauge that didn't move until it was half full then it plummeted - my new '58 GSA has a gauge which is almost linear in it's travel.

Faulty Fuel Sensor
I jumped on the bike last night to be greeted with a yellow warning triangle and flashing 'fuel' message. It told me I had a range of 50 miles. Within 2 miles it was down to 30 and by 4 I was completely empty, allegedly!!
I had done about 170 miles....I put 16 litres in to fill up and guess what!!
The fecking thing still shows empty and I have these bloody lights flashing at me all the time.. I've done 90 miles since...no change.
This is complete crap BMW...I would expect this on a cheap chinese or Korean bike but this is the SECOND unit I've had fitted....
This bike is hemoraghaging money due to crap components and build quality..
the list of problems I've had is too big to fit on this Forum!!!

I've got an 08GS which developed the same problem after 4.5K miles, apparently according to the BMW technician, the fuel sensor needs to be recalibrated (which requires the fuel sensor to be removed) or replaced which I'm having done at the 6K service interval under warranty.
Fuel gauges are only ever a rough guide.
I usually wait until the 50 mile count down thing comes on then fill up at the next convenient opportunity - then reset the trip to 0. The 50 mile countdown can start any time between about 180 miles and 200 miles.
If you use this method, it hardly matters what the gauge is displaying.

Wait until the yellow triangle comes on then stand it up on the rear wheel for a few seconds and it sometimes finds around a quarter of a tank by magic,only works once per tank full though!

I have the same issue on my 06 1200GS. Fill her up to the brim, indicator reads 3/4 full, drive off and after a couple of miles it "may" hit full... does't move till I reach at least over 100 miles then it plummets to half, maybe 1/4... depends on how it feels and what kind of music I'm listening to... (!!??)
Will usually try to refill before 150 mark just to be safe. will mention this when I stick it in with Vines for it's annual inspection, maybe get it done under warranty...

just a few weeks from the showroom, 09 1200gs fuel guage started spouting nonsence. so bmwbattersea replaced fuel pump & sensor. a month later, guess what - the orange triangle is back. apparently there is no fuel, when the tank is full. and back it goes. although this time I will ride it there

Just sorted mine on the '05. It kept reading down to about 3 miles then jumping back up to 48 miles and coming down to 0 with plenty still slushing around.
Fix is simple, leave the tank to 0 and keep going until you run out (carry a 1ltr bottle of fuel). Disconnect & reconnect the battery and put the fuel in and drive to the nearest petrol station.
Mine is now accurate (this is the way BMW recalibrate them - it's the CPU that's the problem not the guage).

Mine being particularly rough. Second half of the tank is completely random; often it gains fuel as the miles pass - as much as half a tank over 150 miles. If only......
Over the weekend - 320 miles elapsed and still had 5 (out of 9) bars showing.
Today 200 miles elapsed, 2 bars showing.

Computer showing 60 miles left, so I stuck £7 in it for the rest of my 30 mile test ride. Reading didnt change from one bar and the computer told me I now had 62 miles instead of 60.
I guess they all do this then?
