I have a 2016 new to me LC 1200 Adventure and fancy more noise and drama, as std it's a bit flat. I fancy a full system and cat removal, but will this fail an MOT? I can't be arsed with swapping over to the OE front pipes and cat every year for the test, but would like the full system. Also, would I need a remap if fitting a free breathing exhaust or does the ecu adjust itself? Last time I did this it was on my then new 1150 GS and the solution was easy, remove the cat and fit a remus with removable baffle. I am interested to learn what you guys have done.

There are no emissions tests for bikes at MOT. So the de-cat part is not a problem. :thumb2

(...... and I have re-mapped every bike I've ever had for about the last 10 years ... !)

Full Akrapovič system on my LC. No MOT issues as there is, as yet, no emissions test for motorcycles. I've also had mine Hilltopped and removed the servo motor and fitted one of these - http://www.speedycom.co.uk/shop/pro...od_notif_email=e-mail&prod_notif_email=e-mail

Mine's a 2013 so it has the lighter flywheel. Even so, it takes off like a stabbed rat with just a light tickle of the throttle in Dynamic mode. A full system certainly changes the character of the bike.

I think it's worth pointing out that if you do go full system (de-cat), you would be daft not to remap it, firstly for the protection of the engine (it runs lean enough as it is let alone if you put a full system on it), and secondly, if you've gone that far you may as well do the job properly .... :thumb2

(You will also vastly improve your mpg by de-catting it). :thumb2

Where do you go to remap? Do you have a power commander fitted too?

Wait for it............

Wileeeeey, about 1/3 of this forum is dedicated to which oil to put in your bike, and another 1/3 is dedicated to 'Hilltop' motorcycle tuners who offer a re-map service. They are in Hinckley. If you pop Hilltop in the search button the result will easily take up your entire evening ... :P

What does the servo motor do then?My last bike was a Moorespeed airhead so all this new fangled electrickery is a bit new to me😳😳😳

I have full cat free system, was louder and didn't have a particually nice note, re-mapping transformed the sound and how it rides, mega smooth and mega quick, tried the 1250 for the second time saturday but still think my 1200 pulls stronger. Mot'd at BMW and no issues with noise.

Had my last bike hilltopped 2 years ago but didn't notice the difference so didn't bother having this one done and after reading the threads I feel validated in thinking it did f all. Saw you were in Kent and I'm in Hertfordshire so thought you might have a suggestion which wasn't in the third world (Leicester).

Was thinking of this but quite a bit of money.

Why in God’s name do people think that BMW would programme an ecu where the O2 sensors lambda routine will richen the mixture just enough for a free flowing end can but not quite enough for decat headers? Can you imagine how sophisticated it would have to be to be OK for one, but not the other as well? And why would they bother doing so and risk over-lean conditions in customers’ bikes?

Absolute bollocks. Just like Hilltop.

Last?
Has it gone?

Yes Nige, it's gone.It was a stunning bike and a hoot to ride but I didn't like riding it other than a blast round the block. It was a lot of cash tied up in a bike I wasn't enjoying so it had to go.Got a lovely 1200 Adventure from Wollaston Motorrad now and have done more miles in 2 months than in the past 2 years on the Moorespeed, says it all.

My 2106 , fully system Hill top was fast and pulled well , but no where near the new one. The new engine makes a huge difference , that's why 3 of my mates upgraded to the 1250 after riding with and on mine.
The new bike is standard apart from the akro end can (euro 3 ) and to be honest runs perfect.

And if you pop Treetop Tuning, it will take you most of the night...
