Full system with cat removal and MOT

I think it's worth pointing out that if you do go full system (de-cat), you would be daft not to remap it, firstly for the protection of the engine (it runs lean enough as it is let alone if you put a full system on it), and secondly, if you've gone that far you may as well do the job properly .... :thumb2

This used to be the truth years back.
The later BMWs have an ECU that will adapt to whatever challenge the intake or exhaust system may throw at it, so you may decat or change airfilter or paint the bike pink, it will still maintain it's OEM fueling.

Giles rides KTM,s so maybe possible to do voodoo on older bikes, but newer ECU,s totally pointless.

My 2106 , fully system Hill top was fast and pulled well , but no where near the new one. The new engine makes a huge difference , that's why 3 of my mates upgraded to the 1250 after riding with and on mine.
The new bike is standard apart from the akro end can (euro 3 ) and to be honest runs perfect.

I think the 1250 pulls better at the top end for sure, below 5000 I think the lower valve lift makes a tuned 1200 more punchy.

Not wanting to turn it into a tip-top tic tac thread but the new ecms will adjust the fuel, but adjust it to what the manufacturer wants or needs to get through emissions which may not be the best for performance.

Fair comment , agree to disagree as the new motor pulls and pulls , im off to the mountains ( Spain ) this week so can give it a full comparison from last year as this will give it a good chance to se the power changes in the twisty mountain roads , also to see how good these new brakes are as well.:thumby:

If you are someone who lives in the upper rev range the 1250 is the bike for you no question, and it is way better than a stock 1200 everywhere. My issue is it isn’t 10k better than my 2015 which is what my dealer wanted from me to change, especially with the abuse mine gets off road, it will be worth about 3&6 by the time I’m finished with it!

Yes Nige, it's gone.It was a stunning bike and a hoot to ride but I didn't like riding it other than a blast round the block. It was a lot of cash tied up in a bike I wasn't enjoying so it had to go.Got a lovely 1200 Adventure from Wollaston Motorrad now and have done more miles in 2 months than in the past 2 years on the Moorespeed, says it all.

Ah bugger! Never got to see it in the flesh. Glad you're enjoying riding again :beerjug:

Was thinking of this but quite a bit of money.

http://www.hmracing.co.uk/motorcycle-dyno-tuning/

Ive heard of them, but have no experience of them.

The other local (to me) place to go is Tagg racing, they don't have a web site as such but have a really good reputation locally as honest and straight down the line. They have a dyno and do tuning, but its all Power commander and not ecu flashing ...

Fine so either way you need to buy a power commander? Sorry for the novice question.

With Euro 5 just around the corner, I still find it amazing that our bike emissions are never checked at MOT. At present Gov has a few other issues on it's hands, but I cannot see how this situation will be allowed to continue.

In the meantime do what you will; just not too feckin noisy.

Also be prepared to stay in the UK riding. :augie
