Funny clutch on new bike..

I've just taken my bike for a spin, first time in a couple of weeks, and I've detected a slipping sensation in 4th. Doesn't always do it and its only around 4 to 5000 rpm. Bike is 3 months old and only done 2,900 miles. Any one else had this?

Bloody headlight mists up too!
 
Now part of my startup routine - I push the both the clutch & brake levers out with the back of my fingers, if they don't move I check the handguards.

Mid-range torque smokin the back wheel.......???:D
 
Check the clutch master cylinder level, if it is too full you need to remove a few CC's of fluid:

As the clutch plates wear, the fluid level in the reservoir RISES until eventually it becomes hydraulically locked. Add a little heat from riding and the clutch starts to slip all by itself. Remove a little fluid to allow room for expansion and all is well again.

The master cylinder cap has a kind of childproof mechanism which needs a couple of small screwdrivers (or strong fingernails) to undo by pressing in on the retaining clips.

at least you cought it before before you burnt clutch out warrenty had ran out 3 weeks earlier

now that made me swear
F******** rotating handles now they are so tight they cannot rotate
and pre check that dronning does push with back of fingers
wouldnt happen on a jap machine
felt like getting rid when it happened
but put in a ceramic clutch in so that wont burn out
 
Thanks Adam, I'll check that too, though it was catching a touch on the guard so i think that was it. They should tell you to look out for these things when you buy the bike, especially if you're part ex is a cbr:eek

Now on the other hand, the same problemo can cause mystery brake faults, if the brake-lever is not fully out when you switch-on. Pre-ride check with backs of fingers to see that the levers have free play is worthwhile scheme.
