1150Gs twin Spark.

On the first start of the day it takes a lot of coughing and spluttering to get the bike to start. Once it does start it runs fine for the rest of the day. This problem happens every day.

Have replaced the coils, fuel pump checked for pressure, filter not blocked. Throttle cables correctly seated. New plugs. Has a Datatool System 3 alarm, now removed.

Have found if I turn the ignition on and off a few times then it starts fine, as if the fuel pump is not priming fully.

So what do you reckon.......:D

Absolutely no idea... but I'd reset the TPS and balance TB's just for the heck of it! Can't hurt! My bike did that for the first few days I owned it... but from then on its fine. I put it down to not being used often enough. :nenau

The've been checked...

funny have only owned this bike for a couple of weeks.....:D bike must be pissed of at being sold....:D

Wiring around the headstock?

The several attempts to prime the ignition system with the on/off action may relate to THIS

Had a look....

thats ok, when you turn the ignition on all the lights come on and the pump whirs as normal but it won't start unless I prime the pump a few times....its as if overnight all the fuel has drained back into the tank and left pipes and pump empty....

Yes indeed, I feel exactly the same every morning,I believe it has the prostate problem.:augie:blast

My bike...

has been connected to a diagnostics computer and it tells me there is a problem with the Hall Sensor, 2 errors and they won,t clear so it looks like a new HAll Sensor required....

One thing after another....

Had the hall sensor replaced, and that fixed the staring problems, and there was I thinking great all sorted....:D until last Saturday when the bike failed to start, after a few attempts it finally did, but this time the bike turned over no attempt to fire.

So today I checked it over, all plugs sparking nicely. Checked fuel injectors and the the right hand one won't fire fuel, after a few attempts it finaly did, took it for a test ride and it ran fine until; I switched off then spent half a dozen turns getting it to go again. Have put some injector cleaner in the fuel to see if that helps.

Have never had fuel injector problems with any of my previously owned GS's, any body else had problems with fuel injectors?

Did think it might be the pressure regulator but it seems to be only the right injector.

I had my injectors cleaned by a fuel injection place, guy reckoned there was plenty of crap in the little filters

Did think of doing that....

but came across this......

DIY......:D

At last.....

Have finally sorted the problem out....the main problem was starting the engine.

A couple of days ago we found that the starter motor was pulling 18amps, which left hardly anything for the electronics etc. Tested another GS and its only pulls 7/8 amps. New starter motor arrived today and fitted....now it starts straight away no messing about no struggling, no popping and farting.

:D:D:D:D:D

Shit happens....

After sorting out my starting problems I thought all was going well until a about a month ago my ABS/Servo started playing up.....:( so today bit the bullet and went and did it....

So following DaveH’s sticky have removed the complete ABS system and reverted to brakes only. Took my time as I hate spannering, don’t mind electrics and electronics…. :D

After removing everything, bleeding the brakes and rewiring took it for a test ride. Have read quite a few posts were people have said the without the ABS/Servo the brakes worked far better, I didn’t think you would notice any difference and thought you were all talking bollocks….well ..I apologise, they are a lot better, especially the rear brake, front brakes easier to feather at slow speeds where with the servo they would be grabby….:D

Did learn one thing from this exercise, all my GS’s, except my first, were ABS of one version or another, when I did the test ride with emergency stops, slow speed handling etc. I found I had forgotten how to use the brakes correctly, my first emergency stop ended up with the backend fishtailing. So will have to ride even more than I normally do to get back to how they should be used……:D
