Being a veteran of 2 R1200GS's, ridden well over 12k miles......I had an interesting conversation with the dedicated bike service receptionist at my local dealer earlier today regarding fuses on the bike........a conversation that became an argument.......with me being told in no uncertain terms that I was wrong & he was right.........
My understanding is that there are no replaceable fuses on the R1200GS and just one (yellow) relay under the seat.
Apparently not.
There is (allegedly) a fuse box and relay panel under the tank!!
My bike is still at the dealers (having yet another electrical problem sorted out!) so I can't establish this for myself.
I've had the tank off my GS a dozen times or more......and I'm more than certain no fusebox/relays lurk underneath.................
According to BMW's own 'Focus on Technology' pages on their website:
The whole network makes do without conventional cut-out fuses: in the event of short-circuit or failure, the electronic system switches off the relevant function as a precautionary measure......
Anybody else been told this load of old bollox or is my dealer correct...........?
Cheers
