There has been a thread on a Fuzeblocks FZ1 fitting on earlier models and after speaking to dealer about affecting warranty if fitted told it would only affect it if it directly cause the problem.
They said earlier model owners did fit them and worked OK , and wanting to fit my Starcom intercom and later fog lights and a couple of other extras this seems easiest way .

Anybody fitted one on new 2014 lc model

Just in the process of fitting one now.
Have mounted it to the top of the ECU using 3M Dual Lock.
Have had to take the lid off the underseat storage area on my Sargent seat otherwise it won't fit in the low position.
Will be able to stick things in there with more dual lock if I really need the extra storage space.

I've recently fitted a Rowe PDM 60 from Nippy Normans

I run Autocom and Keis heated jacket off it for the wife. Connected across battery terminals. The trigger is taken from the 7.5 amp fuse below the seat height adjuster cam.

How to!

I do not see any reason a FZ1 can't be used. The trigger is the key, and the link I posted has found one. I will be doing mine when I get it in December.

The FZ1 is great and really easy to fit. I've installed the FZ1 on my GTR1400. Unless you already have all the accoutrements get the FZ1 wiring harness too, you won't save much buying it all individually.

However, I would go for the PDM60. What I like about the PDM60 is it has greater capacity (total 60 amps) with 6 individually programmable circuits with delayed power on or off, for example to focus all power on cranking the engine on start-up or to leave things running after ignition off. One of the circuits is externally switchable, which will be great for AUX lights, it doesn't use fuses or relays and it's easy to reset after a fault. Seems like a no brainer to me.

When I get my LC GSA I'll be fitting a PDM60 and moving the FZ1 over to my F800GS or another bike...

I fitted an FZ1 on my 2013 model and will be fitting it to my new GS in March. No problems encountered , but I was an Elect Tech in an earlier life :thumb

PDM60

I have a PDM60 that was fitted to my old Tiger. (Not got around to fitting to the GS yet). Really easy to fit, very flexible with the programmable circuits and faultless in operation. I'm a big fan of them.

Another vote for the PDM60 for me, no problem fitting or using one with my 2014 LC GSA.

But damn, more than twice the cost of a FZ1. Maybe worth it if you run a lot of high draw accessories, but lots of money for marginal benefits over the FZ1.

In the UK a PDM60 is £129, shipped from the sole supplier and a FZ1 is £72.50, shipped, so not more than twice the price over here - either we're paying too much for FZ1s or not enough for PDM60s :D I also understand that the FZ1 doesn't ship with any posi-locks, posi-taps or power and ground wiring, which the PDM60 includes; so if you've not already got that kind of stuff hanging around the price differential is reduced even more

There's also not a lot of space to mount anything under the seat on a LC GS, particularly if it has TPM and alarm options installed, so the smaller size of the PDM60 (particularly the height) is really important here IMHO.

Plus, it's only money and you can't take it with you :)

Quite. If you want to bring the FZ1 to the same spec as the PDM60, i.e. with cables and connectors, etc., you'd need to purchase the wiring kit that comes to nearly £30. With this in mind it is now very near to the price of the PDM60. I'm not dissing the FZ1, it is a very cable piece of kit and good at what it does, but the PDM60 is more flexible and I will shortly be fitting one to my bike.

My only complaint with the PDM60, so far, would be the manufacturers statement that no fuse is needed on the feed from the battery. I would advise strongly against fitting any device to the battery without a fuse, should this feed wire become damaged and short to ground there is nothing to protect the battery, and the heat generated could cause a fire. I don't know what internal protection there is on the 12 volt input to the PDM60, but similarly an internal short could also damage the battery and associated cabling. My advice to anybody fitting the PDM60 would be to fit a fuse as close to the battery as possible (or in the case of the WC bikes, as close to the charging terminal as possible if this is where your power is taken from).

Unless the unit is mounted very near the battery ie. No further than you could reasonably fit a fuse, I would fit the fuse. The fuse is to protect the wire, not the unit.
God knows what sort of 60A fuse holder might be suitable though?

Having watched the video, I really wanted to cram a totally inappropriate use of "per se" into this post but couldn't be bothered in the end.

Good info, and yes, they are more than double here, though with the exchange rate, yours cost a fair bit more for the FZ1. Here the FZ1 is $85 and the PDM60 is $190! As for the bits and pieces, no more than $20 US for them if you do not have them. I wouldn't buy a kit for over $50 US that has a bit of wire a couple Positaps and a fuse.

I do see the ease of use and value of the PDM60, and might go that way, but I have rarely done the smart thing. I own a BMW don't I?
