A quick question to the cognoscenti, I have been asked if BMW ever did a PD in dark blue metallic....I seem to recall that they did but can’t find any reference to this.....any thoughts?

Thanks guys, yes I have looked at those sources but they are not comprehensive. Eg I know a yellow g/s PD was produced as a factory special but not shown here...but I can’t seem to find any other source.

ive never seen one ever except for a Gary Burton special. ive read about the yellow ones I think only about ten were made though .

They didn’t. I saw one built up by a BMW mechanic in Italy in the late eighties and thought it looked fantastic. Gary Burton built one with lots of orange bits which was even better. It’s on his website. The yellow ones weren’t factory specials but a run of ten produced by a German dealer. Gary had one on his stand at Stafford a year or two ago. I don’tknow whether he’s still got it.
I believe Gary's yellow bike was from a batch of only 10 made.
He did create a red PD and helped his friend make the blue PD.
I was lucky to view his collection about 2 years ago.

Thanks guys...all the evidence is that BMW didn’t make a blue PD.....must have been a dormant memory of Gary’s blue one I saw a few years back...going (gone) senile.
There some stunning looking bikes in those photos. The red and the blue definitely look good addtions to anyone's garage.
