Fitting other forks/yolks so not like GS head race adjustment.
Is this like g/s head bearing adjustment?

Nut to set head race:

Nip it up, back it off and re-tighten to eliminate play?

Then fit top yoke:

Fit top nut... to what torque??
Then tighten yolk/leg clamps.

That sound right? Anyone?

Cheers,

Done it now:thumb

No more than .6 Nm for the bearing nut and then 107nm for the big bugger on top... easier with the post '91 system.

Forks and all the other bits now fitted:bounce1
so get to road test it tomorrow if the rain ever stops:censor:

The only reason you need the big nut on top up so tight is that the standard flat plate top triple flexes, and unscrews the nut.

With a solid/billet top triple there wont be as much flex, and around 2/3rd of that torque would have been fine.

Problem with doing the centre nut up to a high torque is that it it tends to twist the forks out of alignment.

Some people suggest that when aligning forks you start with everything loosish and tighten from the bottom up, wheel spindle, lower triple, upper triple and the centre nut last.

A good indicator of alignment is the wheel spindle - with the wheel removed the spindle should turn freely in both legs if everything is lined up properly.

Thats what I was told... the nut comes undone... and then its a bugger to find another:blast

As you seem to know how to feed my paranoia, I will check that its all in line:D
