Dear Forum,

I have an ibook G4 1.33 that was a gift to me at the start of the year, the HDD capacity of 40gb is nearly full (with my itunes library mainly), I'm considering upgrading the internal HDD, has anybody here done it at all?! Margus maybe?!

I do have an external drive from my old desktop, but I'd rather keep everything in my nice white polycarbonate case. :thumb

Thanks,
Dan

I recently upgraded my iMac HDD to 300GB, the procedure was far simpler than it would have been with a PC.

Use Carbon Copy Cloner to make a copy of the hard drive on an external disk.
Set the boot order so the computer will boot from the external drive next time.
Open up and the computerand swap the drive.
Boot from the external disk.
Use Carbon Copy Cloner to make a copy of the external drive on the new internal drive.

The only problem I found is the opening of the hardware was not straightforward and some special procedures were required, but these were all explained on the Apple maintenance book I found on line.

An example...
