G650 XCountry - Hepco & Becker Centrestand fitted

Tell me why you'd use a main stand to adjust the chain:augie

Because i'd never use the sidestand:D

Never have in 30 years of motrcycling, either centrestand or a workshop stand - Trail/Trial/Enduro or roadbikes:P

That way you can easily check the chain over its entire length, seeing if there are any 'tight spots' and make sure the chain is 'square' in the adjusters

And yes..............I always factor in a bit of 'extra'chain slack, for the suspension sag effect:augie

Does that answer the question:JB

You'd 'factor in' a bit of slack oh :augie and why does a main stand allow you to check adjusters are level?

So in your 30 years of chain adjusting how did you cope on the XR, Xch, 4rt, Etc etc. ?:P
:D

I knew, I knew:D

I think it looks miles better than the SW Motech version

I think mine might have been the SW version. Very heavy and banged against the swing arm :blast

Which paddock stand is it Micky?.

Cheers Dave.

Dunno Dave ... it's one my lad got with a 'bike he bought. No names on it.

I'll post a piccie of it later ;)

I think you may be right, I did get some feedback from the USA, via AdvRider that commented that the SW one was not so good

The HB is very neat, looks like it's was made by BMW, from the off and is absolutely perfectly weighted - those HB boys certainly have made it very well

Did you have to put the mounting plates behind the footrest mounts, using the supplied longer bolts for remounting the footrests?

Must admit yours does look quite neat and 'lightweight' in the piccie ... might have to have a closer look :augie

A photograph for Cayote Dave, of my paddock stand. Works just perfek :thumb2
Bottle jack under the front of the engine gets the front wheel up all nice and stable to be able to get the front wheel out :thumb2

I did, they also protect the cast frame spars in the same way that the TT hardparts do and thus these TT parts are now redundant

I am pleasantly surprised it fits so well and in my experience of the TT Dakar stand in the past, it is streets ahead

Putting the bike on the centrestand, needs only foot pressure, no additional lifting on the subframe or rack is necessary because it is perfectly weighted

Once on the stand, the bike is rock solid (just like the 1150's) and to make it unstable you have to physically tip the bike over more than 30 degrees

Rear wheel is about 1" or a bit more clear of the ground, enough to adjust/lube chain or remove the wheel etc

Additionally I think it will be easier to load the bike, once centered etc

Welcome to have a good look at it, Mick

Thanks for starting this thread JB and for the pics :thumb2

So impressed I just ordered one for Challenge :D

Some more pics for ya, Micky:thumb2

Looks good :)

Which make of front tyre is that & which tyre combination are you using if you don't mind me asking ?

They're Mitas MT-09's JB excellent for green landing, but not so hot for fast tarmac work - bit bumpy when you get to 70mph :D

Looks a good open pattern profile in a 19" tyre

I'll give then a look into - be just right for the rocky Yorkshire lanes

Sorry they're Mitas E-09's - the E standing for Enduro

Should have looked at them before posting :blast
