That's a cool idea... Civil gives you a set up for free to do the trip with and you give him them back on your return or buy them at a really good price agreed on before departure... you take pictures of the stuff on the bike out there and he can use it for promotion

Yes I know we have a while before the trip but I got to start sometime and want to have the work finished in time for the Smell of Wee Kend so took an hour this afternoon to start stripping the bike.
Had a chance to check out the plumbing for the twin disc system, which was nice
So what's on the list to do?
Well:

Should while away the winter nights

Well:
- Rear sub-frame going for reinforcement in preparation for fitment of new luggage system (watch this space for future pictures ). Reinforcement is not essential but I'm not taking chances.
- Gear box coming out for a check and fitment of higher top gear.
- Replacement of electrical components with Thunderchild units.
- Fitting BMW heated grips (I'm a wuss
)
- Fitting voltage indicator and accessory sockets.
- Fitting HID headlamp cversion and additional lights.
- Fitting wrp round crash bars.
- 400 watt alternator upgrade
- Replacement of bearings and seals in final drive.
- General check up of bike
Will post pics and details as things progress.

Well it's a work in process my intention is to get a couple of hours a day at it for now.

I'd keep all the electrics standard.
I'd take a spare rotor and regulator.
A spare detent spring for the gearbox.
Depending on the mileage on your bike i'd also be tempted to change the exhaust valves before i went.

Bike had a complete head rebuild 300 miles ago, was going to upgrade the alternator to handle heated gear , grips and lights.
