Gambia on an airhead?

Compared to the original the alloy yolk is a lot stronger to be honest I love good engineering and the guy in the States who makes these is an artist in my book I'm tempted to hang it on the wall :D

doesnt look much stronger to me ,, half arsed compared to thr gletter or gletter sachel type top + bottom clamps yours is top only wont work as well

Jesus wept :blast
You shoot more shit than a flushing toilet.:blagblah:blagblah

The ones Thunder has are the dogs bollox of top clamps, bottom ones have never been a problem in my 36 years of BMW airhead riding :rob

I love those top clamps  How are you going to fit your indicators? Do they make a nice bracket to go with the yolk?

The indicator brackets will require some alteration to fit with the yolk. One solution is to simply reverse the indicators and flip them over but I'll look at some others as well.

This is his standard brace but he now offers a specific g/s brace with specific mounts for the indicator tubes with the original mount cut off.

Large box arrived today courtesy of DHL, one HPN tank in nylon but the fitting kit will be another four weeks.

If anyone has a spare and un-required fitting kit gathering dust let me know. :augie

Well things are progressing, got the new top yolk fitted and took the opportunity to fit new head bearings while the bits where off. The original brace is actually heavier than the new one even though it's larger, isn't alloy a wonderful thing? :D

Reversing and inverting the indicator mounts worked perfectly and only required some alteration to the tube end to allow the indicator to point straight ahead.

Going with the g/s specific mount that the manufacturer produces you lose the mounts for the additional instruments.

Got a call from the paint shop that some of the plastics were ready so started to get them fitted, gave me a chance to fit the new MPH speedo.

Managed to get a discount on the speedo as it had 1 mile on it and as far as I was concerned was used. :rob

Should be collecting the HPN tank on Monday, all I need for it now is a fitting kit. :blast

Also, the front rake pipe clips you can see in this photo, did you buy them or did they come with the bike?

The genuine top clamp is a joke 3mm pressed steel.
Bottom ones, I've never had a problem with.
I'd love to be able to afford an uprated top clamp like that one of Thunders :drool
heres a pic of a complete 80 g/s fork assembly, with the rare fork brace but standard top clamp>>look at the bloody price>>>

I have been known to drool but never pay high prices :D

I got these from the previous owner of the bike, new as he'd never got round to fitting them and at a decent price as he had bought them when the exchange rate against the dollar was more favorable.

The guy who makes them in the States sells them for $195 delivered to the UK or the specific g/s version is $255 delivered.

Bought a side stand extender for the 1200 of that seller, he makes a good product.

His carriers are more expensive than the equivalent TT though, having said that I've got them on my watch list as I need some when the new panniers arrive :augie

I'm an engineer. I appreciate good engineering.
I can see the work that's gone into those top clamps and I can see how much more 'fit for purpose' they are than the pressed steel original equipment.

You are right in that there is an awful lot of pointless bling made for bikes but I don't think these clamps fall into that category. While 'all that shines' certainly isn't gold, some of it is....
