Gambia on an airhead?

So what did you do on Chrimbo Eve?

Well I spent an hour or two with thefreshly painted HPN tank and the cheap decals from Italian Ebay.

Of course the tank had been allowed to cure for awhile and I have not fitted the original BMW side foils until I get the tank fitted to the bike with the elusive tank fitting kit but the result so far are pleasing to me to say the least! :drool

Lets see what the audience think :augie :D

That Tank looks just superb and hads given me an expensive idea. I just happen to have one of those tanls myself ready for painting and could see myself with one.:augie I look forwards to the photos of it when fitted to your bike.

Well Obviously you have plenty of shekels to splash around and If you feel you need those ones thats fine Go Get Em!

My Old Granda used to say that "Ya Don't get Old without learnin a trick or two!" At that particaular time it was accompanied by a clip round the ear and Ya Bamstick I told You That Ya needed gloves to carry that Hot Bolt!

The Moral The Ould fellers are usually right!

The bottom line is with that set up is that you'll put soo much rigidity in the front end you'll end up bending the sideplates if you hit a big pothole, They were designed to have a bit of flex! Not Be like some poor beings penetration tool on half a case o viagra!

Thanks Andy and accept my apologies for depleting your bank balance :blast:D

Not intending to teach my grandmother to suck ovoids but make sure your tank is nylon rather than polypropylene if your going to paint it. Polypropylene can't be painted (well it can but the paint will peel off as the fuel vapour passes through it and reacts with the paint).

I'll be getting the tank on the bike as soon as I get my hands on a fitting kit :thumb

Tank looks nice, stickers set it off well :)

Didn't know that you could get a cap with the forward vent and locking. Mine has the forward vent but no lock :tears Still with fuel prices down it's maybe not such an issue now.

Seems to be expensive following what you're doing to your bikes Roger!

seasons greetings

same to you proff and many more and seasons greetings to you as well ,, thats a class job you done on the tank thunder , the bike is going to look class.

I'm deliberately not commenting on the HPN tank, as it's hard to see through the green mist that descends whenever I open this thread :augie:augie:augie

T'is fooking great tho :thumb2:thumb2:rob:rob

The bike's looking the business: very purposeful

The only downside for me would be the 12 month wait to the start of your adventure: I would be wishing my time away wanting to get off. Have you any plans to take the m/c around any UK events in 2009 to help raise funds for the charity? It would be nice to see and walk around the finished bike.

Donated to the good cause, good luck.

Well have to agree about the wait time was only saying to Oonyack the other day the pair of us should slip away this January and do a dry run just to check out the routes don't ya know :augie :D

My aim is to have the bike ready this winter (and at the same time get familiar with it mechanically) get it out on the road next year and do a final strip down next September.

Will have it at some of the events next year, Kesh, The Gentlemen's Wee - Kend of course, The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Pish Up and The East Mids are booked so far and I'll try and fit others in as time permits.

Thanks for hitting the donate button, much appreciated:thumb

looking greaaat thunder:thumb
do the indicators touch the hpn tank on lock?

I have no idea at the moment as the tank was just balanced on the frame to check it out the last thing I wanted to do was turn the bars.

It did not strike me as being an issue at the time. I was very impressed at how well the tank was designed to wrap round the headstock.

Will let you know.:thumb

The tank is just resting in that position to get an idea of how it will look Lyn until I get the fitting kit.

Once that's on it will clear the front guard easily. :thumb

Resting on top of the PIAA lights?
I'm thinking you'll find it necessary to remove them once the fitting kit arrives.
Also, the indicators will hit the tank with the OEM top yoke, I don't know how your new one will get on.

Good stuff Thunder. Keep em coming. :thumb2
