Doh :blast

Sorry Lyn just found this post.

Thanks for the kind offer, I actually have one of the aforementioned items in my tool kit already, but it's really great that you thought of us :thumb

Storm warning......................

It's amazing what you can fit in the back of an Octavia estate :D

Desert Storm stripped and ready for some attention, it's amazing what you can fit in a few boxes.

Dropped off the frame, front sub frames and all the associated metal work with a local company I've used before to be blasted and coated ready for the rebuild, will be ready for collection next week :bounce1

All the plastics and bodywork are with the painters being prepped for a blow job :augie

Called in with my friendly local suspension expert, forks are being stripped for a full service and rebuild, rear shock was going to have the same treatment until, he found he had an all singing all dancing Ohlins unit gathering dust in his store room :augie

Turned out I ended up coming home with more than a rear shock for the 80 g/s PD which was on order :blast

Things are moving slowly on the re-build but they are moving so time for an update. :augie

Engines in bits and waiting for some new parts before being rebuilt, gearbox has been stripped and lovingly stroked by R Farmer Esq and will be heading back shortly just as soon as a suitable box is obtained to pack it in :blast

Frame has been blasted and powder coated a rich satin black, started to refit the electrics and some of the newly painted bodywork.

The bikes exhaust was sound but pretty tatty, and showing signs of rust in places, being a custom job it was not going to be a simple case of ordering a replacement so I looked into the options of having it ceramic coated and contacted a number of companies about it.

Chose Rtech Coatings to do the work and including shipping it cost less than a new set of header pipes and is a great finish IMPO.

Stewart Black at Rtech is a decent guy to deal with and deivered the pipes back on schedule, highly recommended if anyone is intrested in this sort of work. :thumb

Might have the stopping bit sorted

When built originally the bike had a twin disc set up, 320mm Spondon discs and twin 6 pot billet calipers but over the years it had been changed to a single disc ( one of the original Spondons) with a Yamaha FJ100 caliper fitted on the custom made billet mount.

As the bike is going back to a 21 inch front cross spoked wheel rather than its current centre spoked 19" configuration the Yamaha caliper would not have cleared the spokes so some phone calls and emails to Harrison Billet resulted in this arriving in the post.

Should be an improvement on the stock Airhead front brake :rob:augie

Very nice :thumb2 :thumb2.

Is that a stainless bleed nipple ??

I have them and I also make my own brake pipes in Cupro-Nickel with stainless brake nuts (PTFE tape around the thread stops them seizing in the alloy).

I had a job tracking them down - let me know if you need the contact details.

Indeed it is, if I need some others I'll drop you a PM :thumb

Really?

It has the all new Emperors Cylinder Heads fitted for extra get up and go :augie :D

Hold your monitor over a candle and they will appear :eek

Just joking - I knew all along that you had the special super lightweight racing heads fitted :augie

Have done already, he's sent me the low down :thumb

Roger,

I'll PM you (again).

Rob Farmer and I have been delving deeper into Airhead ignition systems and it is more complicated than I thought.

We need to know which Ignition Control Module (ICM) you have before deciding on the best way to wire the twin coils.
